Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has called on the youth of Ghana to remain vigilant in preserving the country’s peace and unity, cautioning them against being drawn into needless conflicts driven by divisive political, religious, or ethnic rhetoric.

Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Security and Intelligence, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has urged young Ghanaians to be vigilant in safeguarding the nation’s peace, warning against being influenced by divisive rhetoric rooted in politics, religion, or ethnicity.

Speaking at the National Youth Conference organized by the National Youth Authority (NYA), Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized that peace and unity are the foundations upon which Ghana’s development depends.

“You are in Ghana today, and I can assure you, you have no idea what it means to live in a country at war. Let us not take this peace for granted,” she told an audience of young leaders and delegates. “It is this peace that allows us to gather in this room people from different ethnic backgrounds and regions together in harmony.”

She further underscored the power of Ghana’s diversity, calling on the youth to embrace it as a strength rather than a source of division.

“This country can only move forward if we recognise that our diversity is a strength. Let us harness it, and ensure that Ghana remains the shining Black Star of Africa an example for others to follow.”

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings also issued a strong warning to the youth not to allow themselves to be manipulated by individuals sowing discord, regardless of their status or position in society.

“Do not allow people making reckless statements to derail the future you are building not a politician, not a traditional leader, not a religious leader, and not even an academic. This is your future protect it.”

The National Youth Conference convened participants from across Ghana to engage in dialogue on the critical role of young people in shaping the nation’s democratic governance and developmental agenda.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings issued a rallying call for unity and shared responsibility:

“Let us ensure that Ghana continues to shine as the Black Star of Africa a beacon of hope and a model for others to learn from. God bless you all.”
