Western Region Police arrests 5 additional suspects in the Asemko-Butre clashes
The Western Regional Police Command has made significant progress in the investigation into the murder of John Abban, a brother of the chief of Butre and Asemkor, who was brutally attacked and killed on October 6, 2025, amidst a chieftaincy dispute.
Five additional suspects have been arrested, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to 10. The latest arrests were made at various hideouts across the region, with Kwabena Asirifi, 50, being apprehended at Ampataano near Asemkor on October 23, 2025.
The Regional Police Intelligence Directorate also arrested James Eshun, alias Abeiku, 25, Joseph Aidoo, alias Moree, 45, and Stephen Nyame, alias Joe, 18, at Abuesi in the Shama District on October 24, 2025.
Earlier, Kwabena Musah, 55, was arrested on October 18, 2025, and has since been remanded into police custody along with Kennedy Abor, alias Abongo, 30, Kojo Attah Panyi, 20, Joseph Basses, 30, Abraham Cudjoe, alias Yalle, 39, and Ekow Painstil, 45.
All suspects are expected to reappear in court on October 30, 2025, as investigations continue to ensure justice is served
